Mingueza: Ansu Fati should not rush his return, he has many years ahead of him. Mingueza who is Barcelona’s defender said that if Ansu Fati’s recovery will require an extra couple of months in order for him to return to being 100% then so be it.

A couple of reports say that during recovery Ansu Fati suffered a setback from a meniscus injury. Due to this injury he will require an extra time to fully recover.

Ansu Fati has been missing in action since the 7th of November, and it seems we might not see him participate the remainder of the 2020/21 season.

Mingueza told Esport COPE: ” I hope he recovers as soon as possible, but if he has to spend three to four more months in order to recover well. Then let him do it.”

“Let him recover well, because he is very young and has many years ahead of him. That he doesnt want to rush or play before he has to, that he recovers well with his knee, because I am sure that with what he has already shown he will be a top player.”

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Manchester City’s centre-back Eric Garcia, who will be a free agent in June, but Mingueza goes with the acceptance that competition is part and parcel of playing for a big club.

“[Barcelona are] the best club in the world and we have the best players and the best reinforcements to have a strong team with good starters and substitutes,” he noted.

“We will fight to be able to play as many games as we can and at the end of the season the important thing will be the trophies we win together.”

Such has been their form in 2021, that Barcelona have cut Atletico Madrid’s lead at the top of LaLiga Santander with just four points, having picked up 37 of the last 39 points available, and the 21-year-old has made it clear that putting as much pressure on Los Rojiblancos as possible has to be the Blaugrana’s aim after the international break.

“Now we are focused on qualifying [for the latter stages of the European Under-21 Championship] with the national team and when we return we will continue working and fighting for what we want,” Mingueza stated.

“As I said when we were 12 points behind, as long as it is mathematically possible we will keep fighting until the end. We will fight not to lose any points and keep putting pressure on Atletico.”

During this season Mingueza has been sharing a dressing room with Lionel Messi, and he has seen the Argentine in good spirits, despite the uncertainty surrounding his contractual situation.

“Since I came [into the first team] I’ve seen him very happy, involved with the team, wanting to win,” he noted.

“Before games you could see his attitude and that of the whole team. In the end we have formed a very good team and this attitude is the way to try to win a trophy.”
