During the champions league night, The spotlight was all over Erling Haaland again. Due to the fact that he scored a double against Sevilla.

He is already the top scorer in the history of champions league in his country. His 2 goals in the second leg of the round of 16 saw him overtake Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s record of 19. Haaland on the other hand already hit 20.

The Borussia Dortmund striker – Who has once again been named man of the match after he had scored his 20 goals in just 14 champions league games. Breaking the record of Harry Kane, who had scored 20 goals in 24 games.

Alessandro del Piero comes as the third quickest to reach goals in 26 games. And Ruud Van Nistelrooy comes in fourth in 27 games.

In order for us to put this achievement into context, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo reached 20 goals in the Champions League after playing 40 and 56 games. These stats make many wonder: is Haaland the next best Number. 9 in the world?

WHEN HAALAND WAS about 9 years old, he would meet up with his friends on the weekends to practice and scrimmage on their own at an old stadium in Bryne. they also trained a couple of times with their coaches, but hey that too was’nt enough.

“I was always waiting for the weekends so I could go there, play football, then go home and watch football on the television,” says Haaland on a rainy October afternoon in Dortmund, Germany. Fresh off scoring a late goal in the Champions League the day before, Haaland, who turned 20 in July, looks relaxed but serious on Zoom in a tan fleece jacket, his white-blond hair obscured by a backward baseball cap.

A FEW THINGS THAT HAALAND DOES:

Haaland lives up to that mantra. His life is tailored to maximize his performance.

  1. He trains at home with a fitness coach via FaceTime (“to release spots on my body”).

2. He meditates (“when I feel I need it”).

3. He gets at least nine hours of sleep a night (“sleep is very important”).

4. He wears blue-light glasses to protect his eyes from the screen (“I play a lot of FIFA”).

5. He even unplugs his Wi-Fi when he goes to bed (“to get the best possible sleep”).

His dad, Alfie, says he has to switch to mobile data promptly at 10 p.m. when he visits.

“If he believes in something, he stays with it,” says his dad, a former Premier League player.

“I’m not sure he’s proved that it could be bad if he keeps the Wi-Fi, but if he thinks it helps him, why not?”
